undercover

UnderCover was remarkable in a couple of ways. It was our first project under lockdown, using Zoom as a means of communication for classes. It was also, for me, incredibly quick. This was the brief, and I highly recomment taking a look at the submissions in all their varietal glory:

/As a direct response to our current lives, how might art practice be reconfigurated through physical isolation? How does the home affect, alter, disrupt habitual working methodologies? My first thought was cosy and homely, being under the bedclothes, safe and warm, in a familiar place where nothing can go wrong and it's okay to simply be yourself.  The second was undercover in the sense of spies and law enforcement:  duplicity, concealment, hiding, appearances being misleading, people misrepresenting themselves.

What immediately sprang to mind was a paper doll I remembered from childhood. For some reason, I found it terribly creepy. She sprang fully formed ...
